Hey y’all! Hope everyone had a great day. I’ve got a terrific challenge to help you get your year off to a great start! It’s called Pounds 4 Peace.
P4P was started by Highlander fans who decided losing weight would be a great way to raise money for The PEACE Fund. The idea is to get people to sponsor your weight loss. Let’s say you want to lose 20 pounds. Get your friends and family to donate a certain amount for every pound you lose.
So, what is The PEACE Fund? PEACE stands for Protect, Educate, Aid Children Everywhere. It was started in 1997 by Adrian Paul (the Highlander). The fund raises money for organizations that are underfunded, doing awesome stuff to help kids, and needing help.
Some of the recipients are: Mercy and Sharing; Teachers Across Borders; COTA (Children’s Organ and Transplant Assoc.).
This past year Paul started PEACE Fund Radio, which was set up to create a social network for charities to come together and work on ways to help children everywhere.
It’s a brilliant charity, and one I’ve supported since it began. One of the highlights this past year for me was using social media (twitter/facebook/google+) to help The PEACE Fund raise money toward getting an infant respirator for a hospital in Hungary.
Little Flora was the first baby to be saved by the respirator. She’s a little cutie, isn’t she!
Anyway, I could ramble on, but this is simply a fantastic way to start off the new year! Get the weight off, and help little kids who are so in need of our support all at the same time. So, click the above links to learn more, download your sponsor sheet, and fitness tips from Adrian Paul.
Let’s make it a great year!
PS: It’s tax deductible! Pass it on!
